Quincy’s First Fine Arts Gallery Gears up for Official Opening

Quincy, MA–Under the direction of the Quincy Art Association, and having
received support from Mayor Koch’s office and corporate sponsors, the QArts
Gallery will be the city’s first fine arts gallery and have announced they will open
its doors to the public on Saturday, October 16.

Linda Santoro, a spokesperson for the Quincy Art Association said the gallery will
exhibit fine art in all mediums; from acrylics, to watercolor, oil and pastels, and
plan to feature paintings, sculptures, pottery, jewelry, and handmade items of
museum quality.

The QArts Gallery is located at 1229 Hancock Street, which was formerly a
vacant 2,000-square-foot Taekwondo studio, now owned by the City of Quincy
who gave permission for the Quincy Art Association to occupy and launch the
arts gallery in the previously unused space.

In conjunction with receiving help from Mayor Koch’s office and monetary
donations from numerous companies including Quirk Auto Dealers and Granite
City Electric Supply who generously donated all the track lighting, the gallery has
been upgraded to be a functioning space that will be a welcoming venue to
display artists’ works for the public’s enjoyment.

On Saturday, October 16, a grand opening was officiated by Ellyn Moller,
President of Quincy Art Association, and QArts Gallery curator. The event will
exhibit sixty artists’ work which will be on display and available for purchase.
“With the support of Mayor Tom Koch, the City of Quincy and community
sponsors, such as Granite City Electric and Quirk Auto Dealers, everyone has
opportunities for enriching their lives through art, whether you’re a creator or a
patron. This is such an exciting time for the Quincy Arts Association, and we look
forward to continuing our mission for many years to come.”, said Moller.
